A Swiss physician who wrote a detailed description of the ancient remains of Jerusalem in the years 1845-1846; he matched these sites with the historical data. It was he, and not Charles W. Wilson, who first identified �Wilson�s Arch�, as the final arch of the bridge that led from the Upper City of Jerusalem to the Temple Mount.
